CWTS ARTIST BLOCK 2012-2013 :>
CWTS2 Catmon, Malabon. LAST DAY MARCH 9, 2013.
The ones who had absence before was able to make up for it last Saturday. So today is our last day. Wait, again, last day already? Well that was fast. I was just like the first day. Woah! I never thought that we’d all reach this far. As much as I want to stay, to help these people more, sadly we need to all separate sooner or later. Separation anxiety! Just kidding. We used our remaining time to make finishing touches on the colourful wall that we all made. Outstanding outcome! Agree? I loved how determined we to make the art more fun and lively. I saw each and everyone worked hard. I even saw OC people who really payed attention to small details of the painting. Amazing. Such creative and multi-talented artists. We may had our flaws in the beginnings, but we know that we did a job well done within the process. We just need to know how to adapt to certain changes and adjust to what is needed. Especially, the passion and love to serve other people must always be present at all times. Servant leaders, we all are. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience. Ciao!
CWTS2 Catmon, Malabon. DAY 4 FEBRUARY 23, 2013
4th day for CWTS2 in Catmon, Malabon! Video shoot was still in progress. The HTG people are so great in making this as creative as the can. They are very jolly people who get along with kids very easily. As to the others, we were tasked to carry full-loaded sacks of sand and cement. I was expecting this today? Let’s say my white shirt really turned beige-ish colored after everything because I had to carry them on my shoulders. Some of the sands were dripping so all of it ended up on my shirt and pants. What a dirty boy I was. As we were able to place all the cement, sands and the rest of the materials. With the help of the people who knows how to mix cement, we started placing them on the canals infront of the daycare, making it more accessible and walk-able as we visualize it once it’s done. Without a doubt, this will turn out great as we return the next week!
CWTS2 Catmon, Malabon. DAY 3 FEBRUARY 16, 2013
Oh my god. Again? I was asked to get the video camera the night before again. Huhuhu. Okay, let’s do this. I know, we had our own faults about it. Carry on. As we arrived, we immediately did our agenda for the day which is to focus on the video shooting. I was taking a video of everyone doing in every place. I took videos of us doing the project clean up, plus exploring the whole community. I was a very hot day, and we all ended up tired. I even kind of slipped on one of the steep pathways. Thankfully I didn’t fall in the water full of garbage. As we returned in the daycare, Josh said that we could take a break and rest. Gladly, we were able to meet our agenda for today.
CWTS2 Catmon, Malabon. DAY 2 FEBRUARY 2, 2013
CWTS2 Saturday again! Ohhsshnaaaps I just received a message again, that I need to get the video camera from CAO for the video shoot. I sure wish I was told earlier so that I wouldn’t be late L So yes, I was late again L I immediately went to Harrison in a Pedicab then we immediately went on our way to Catmon. As we arrived, we went to the zone where we first did our zone clean-up. It was so disappointing. All the effort and sweat that we exerted wasted. The water seemed to rise up again. So we tried looking for another place to do our clean-up. Joshua called for a meeting in the daycare to talk about the plan. We ended up cleaning the place again. But sadly it’s not working. Plus it rained so we had difficulties in our execution. We tried our best to stay under the rain just to be able to finish the job. Our host families were there also to help us. Such determined people to make a change in their community! Some of the people suggested that we could submerge the sacks of trash in the water to block its flow. As we did it, I really didn’t think that it would work. I was doubtful about it, sorry. After that, it was a wrap. I just hoped that there would be progress.
CWTS2 Catmon, Malabon. DAY 1 JANUARY 26, 2013
CWTS2 for Artist block! Okay, I didn’t know what to expect that first day of visit again. I really had no idea. It was a bright shinny morning as we, the artist block met up in Harrison Plaza at exactly 7AM. Sadly, I didn’t come on time because I was asked to get our cleaning materials in CAO. They texted me the night before that Saturday, so I tried to be as early as I can in CAO to get it. What time does the CAO office open? 8AM. So as I arrived in Harrison, we left immediately. It has been a while since I last went to Catmon, Malabon. The first time was when we had out CWTS1. As we arrived, Josh assigned me to take the lead and make zones out of the community. So with a sheet of paper and I pen, I made an improvise map of the community using lines, curves and shapes. I explained it to the block after having travelled in the community. We did this to spot zones where we can choose to do our project clean up. But it’ll be still based on the probably of the place to be cleaned or not. If all of the zones can be cleaned, division of the group can be done so that work can me more faster. The rest of the group stayed in the Daycare to talk about the processes of the video, time line, etc. We were able to clean up a basketball court. We’ll come back the next week if our clean-up was for long-term or not.
